The Women’s Forum for the Economy & Society is delighted that Florence Tondu-Mélique, 2016 Rising Talent, has been appointed CEO of Zurich France.
Florence will be responsible for boosting the growth and development of Zurich France’s Commercial Insurance Business in one of the most important European markets. She will report to Manuel Meier, Head of Commercial Insurance Europe, Middle East and Africa (CI EMEA), and will be part of the CI EMEA European management team.
Florence was previously COO, for Hiscox in Europe. She started her career at McKinsey & Company where she became a European expert on innovation and game-changing business transformation in financial services, and co-founded the McKinsey Digital Insurance Observatory and CEO Forum. In 2007, she joined AXA Investment Managers as Director of the Office of the CEO and General Secretary, then Executive Director for one business unit. During this period, she served as Non-Executive Director on the boards of two entities of the AXA Group.
She holds a MSc from Ecole HEC and a MBA from Harvard Business School. She is ranked 22nd (6th for women) in the top 100 new economic leaders of France. In 2015, she was named ‘Future Leader of the Industry’ by the Association of British Insurers and ‘Woman Leader of the Year’ by the industry in France.
