Women's Forum Mexico to celebrate 150th Anniversary of Canada's Confederation

For its second Mexico edition on Unleash your leadership!, the Women's Forum for the Economy & Society will recognize Canada, Mexico's third largest trading partner. Women's Forum Mexico will be held on 8-9 November 2017 in Mexico City - with a by invitation-only pre-programme on 7 November for Canadian, Mexican and American entrepreneurs and business leaders.

2017 is a big year for all Canadians: it is the 150th anniversary of Confederation. Canada is also proud to be leading the way in promoting gender equality and helping to empower women and girls.

The first lady of Canada and former journalist Sophie Grégoire-Trudeau said it best in a message delivered at the 2016 Women’s Forum Global Meeting: “In order to build a more equal and just world, everyone must join together to make gender equality a global reality.”

The Women's Forum Mexico's Canada Delegation is made possible through a partnership between the Government of Canada, the Embassy of Canada in Mexico and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Mexico. Comprised of female and male business leaders from a variety of sectors, the Delegation aims to:
  • develop and enhance new business and cultural relationships with delegates from Mexico, Canada, the United States, Central and South America;
  • work together to unleash leadership power in different areas, generating new ventures and solutions;
  • keep working together to bring about more gender equality in Mexico, Canada, the United States and beyond.

Among the topics that will be discussed on Nov. 7-9 will be:
  • growth of trade opportunities;
  • impact of the recent VISA waiver between Mexico and Canada;
  • evolution of tourism in Mexico and Canada; and,
  • new initiatives to advance women empowerment and together to revitalize the North American business community.
On November 7, Mexican, Canadian and American delegates will be invited to attend an “off trade-meetings' programme” presented by the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs (S.R.E) in partnership with Women’s Forum Mexico, ProMexico, the Canadian government’s Business Women in International Trade (BWIT) Programme, and the Canadian and U.S. Embassies in Mexico.

On November 8-9, all delegates of the Women’s Forum Mexico will have numerous opportunities to meet, exchange with and learn from members of the Canada Delegation.

Are you a Canadian who wishes to take part in this historic and celebratory Delegation? We invite you to register by contacting Jennifer Le Corre: Jennifer Le Corre or Canadian government's Business Women in International Trade (BWIT) Program.
