THE FIRST ACTION TOOLKIT ON WOMEN LEADING CLIMATE ACTION
“Women are key players in the fight against climate change. However, they are also the first victims of climate change. We need women to take their place in the decision-making process as they are clearly vital to finding the solution.” Audrey Tcherkoff, Women’s Forum Managing Director
For the first time, the Women’s Forum has launched a toolkit to promote women to key positions and take the lead in shaping climate-change strategies.
Whether you are a business or private sector leader, this toolkit serves as a resource to organizations who are ready to act today. It contains:
- recommendations of actions
- case studies and best practices
- indicators to monitor on progress
- online resources and references
5 levers are activated, based on the 5 pillars of the Charter of Engagement on Women Leading Action that the Women4ClimateAction Daring Circle released in 2019, which has been signed by over 500 businesses, civil society institutions, public authorities and individual leaders:
- Leadership and representation
- Education
- Access to means of action
- Data
- Finance
Because 54% of female CEOs reported to have adopted more ambitious sustainability milestones due to the COVID-19 pandemic, compared to 44% of male CEOs.
Because female political representation leads countries to adopt more stringent climate change policies.
Because only 12%of environment ministries were headed by women worldwide and only 21% of C40 mayors were women as of 2019.
Ensuring women can lead climate action at all levels is essential if we are to build a more sustainable and more equal world in the coming decade.
