Biography

Dr Piga is an accomplished international expert, researcher, and practitioner with over 20 years of experience in gender equality, Women, Peace and Security (WPS), and human rights. She has worked extensively across Central Asia, the Southern Caucasus, and Ukraine with organisations such as UN Women, the OSCE, the EU, and Gender Associations. Holding a PhD in Gender and Politics from the University of Surrey, where she is also a Research Fellow, she bridges academic research with practical implementation, leading multi-country programmes, shaping gender policies, and strengthening institutional capacities. A passionate advocate for feminist action and mentorship, Dr Piga actively contributes to professional networks such as WIIS Italy and UN Women France. She is dedicated to advancing systemic change, fostering inclusive partnerships, and amplifying underrepresented voices to create lasting impact in peace, security, and equality worldwide.
