Biography

Bonnie Chiu is an award-winning social entrepreneur, gender equality advocate, and social impact consultant. She is the Managing Director and Owner of The Social Investment Consultancy (TSIC), a global network of consultants and changemakers working to create systemic change for a fairer society. Since joining in 2014, Bonnie has scaled TSIC internationally to over 40 staff across multiple regions, developing its expertise in impact investment, place-based and community-led change, and equity and inclusion. Under her leadership, TSIC has worked with more than 500 clients — including the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation, British Council, and UNICEF — and has been at the forefront of shaping inclusive practices within the impact economy. Bonnie has been a leading voice in promoting diversity and inclusion in the social investment sector, having founded the Diversity Forum for Inclusive Social Investment and co-authored an Investor Toolkit focused on girls and young women, funded by the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO, formerly DFID). She also serves as a Senior Advisor at Social Value International and co-founded the Pathway Fund, a £50 million impact investment fund advancing racial equity. A serial social entrepreneur, Bonnie is also the Founder of Lensational, a social enterprise that equips marginalised women with photography and storytelling training, reaching over 1,000 women in 23 countries. She has been invited to speak on social impact and gender inclusion in more than 20 countries, including two TEDx talks, and previously served as a Senior Contributor at Forbes, writing on gender and diversity. Bonnie has received multiple accolades for her leadership and innovation, including being named a Forbes 30 Under 30 Social Entrepreneur, Asia21 Young Leader by the Asia Society, Entrepreneur at the Women of the Future Awards, and Young Achiever at the Asian Women of Achievement Awards. She was also featured as Ambassador for Sustainable Development Goal 5 (Gender Equality) in the Lavazza Calendar. Born and raised in Hong Kong, Bonnie holds a BBA in Global Business Studies (First Class Honours) from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, a Master’s in International Relations from the London School of Economics, and a Certificate in Impact Finance Innovations from Saïd Business School, University of Oxford. She has lived and worked across Asia, Europe, and the United States, and is now based in London, United Kingdom.
