Biography

Nathalie Balla is an entrepreneur and investor. She has served as a member of the Board of Directors of Criteo since 2017, the Board of Directors of IDI since 2021 and the Board of Directors of Edenred since 2023. Graduated from the Paris-based business school ‘Ecole Supérieure de Commerce (ESCP-EAP)’ and holder of a PhD in economic and accounting sciences from Sankt Gallen University, Nathalie Balla, aged 57, is an e-commerce and digital transformation expert. Nathalie Balla began her career with the Karstadt Quelle Group, working for the Madeleine brand, where she was Managing Director for Switzerland and Austria from 1996 to 1998. She then joined Quelle Versand (in Switzerland) as Managing Director between 1998 and 2001, before becoming Managing Director responsible for international affairs between 2001 and 2005. At the end of 2005, she was appointed Managing Director of Robert Klingel Europe, ranked fourth amongst the top mail order selling distributors in Germany. Appointed to head La Redoute in August 2009, Nathalie Balla implemented a transformation plan, enabling the brand to return to a position of growth one year later. Following the sale of La Redoute on the part of Kering, Nathalie Balla and Eric Courteille acquired La Redoute and Relais Colis in June 2014. After a successful transformation, they sold 2022 La Redoute to Galerie Lafayette Group and Relais Colis to Walden Group. In 2011, she was given the title of ‘E-commerce Personality of the Year’ by the E-commerce Magazine and in 2019 “Most influent Woman of the year” by Forbes Magazine. She was also named the ‘2014 Woman of Influence’ in the ‘Rising Star’ category, the “2018 Bold Woman” by Veuve Clicquot and “Chevalier de la Legion d’Honneur” in 2021.
