Biography
Yakın Ertürk, professor emeritus of sociology, holds a PhD from Cornell University (1980). Academic experience: Global Research Associate at CWGL, Rutgers University (Sept 2017-May 2018); faculty member Middle East Technical University (1986-2010); Hacettepe University (1983-96), Riyad University (1979-83); lecturer at various academic institutions. Non-academic experiences: international consultancies on rural development (1988-1995); Director, UN Division for the Advancement of Women and UN İnstitute for Research and Training on Women; UN Special Rapporteur on Violence against Women; member - European Committee on the Prevention of Torture; Commissioner - UN Commission of İnquiry on Syria.
