Marzieh Hamidi, born in Iran in 2002, has become an emblematic figure in taekwondo and a symbol of international feminist engagement. Coming from a family of exiles, she grew up between Iran and Afghanistan, a country she was forced to flee in 2021 after the Taliban returned to power. Settled in France, Marzieh quickly established herself in the under-57 kg category and now trains at INSEP with the French team.
Beyond her sporting achievements, she is distinguished by her fervent activism for women's rights and her determined stance against the Taliban regime. Since September, 2024, she has faced daily death and rape threats, both online and by phone, which have necessitated enhanced police protection. Her determination has enabled her to transform these hardships into a source of inspiration for other young women. She was representative of Afghan women in nobel peace prize in 2023, and winner of medal of honor from assembly national and German Dream Award. Her notable speeches at the French National Assembly, Senate, UNESCO, and other international venues testify to her ongoing fight for a more just society.
