Biography
Since 2016, Pascal Morand is the Executive President of the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode (FHCM) which gathers designers and luxury fashion brands. FHCM acts as a professional organisation, bringing services to its Members and advocating for creativity and know-how at a worldwide level and organises Paris Fashion Week and Semaine de la Haute Couture. Pascal Morand is Professor Emeritus at ESCP Business School and a Member of the National Academy of Technologies of France. He is a graduate of HEC (1978), holds a Master in Organizational Science (Université Paris Dauphine, 1979) and a PhD in Economics (Université de Rouen, 1988).
He was Director General of the Institut Français de la Mode from 1987 to 2006, Director and Dean of ESCP Business School from 2006 to 2012, and Deputy Director General of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Paris Region, in charge of studies and public affairs, from 2013 to 2015.
Professor in Economics at ESCP Business School since 1993, he has also been a lecturer at HEC and Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, and a visiting Scholar at Northwestern University.
His work focuses on innovation and design policies, as well as on the relationship between economy and culture. His publications include: La victoire de Luther; essai sur l'Union économique et monétaire (Vivarium/Maison des Sciences de l'Homme, 2001); Luxe et religions; essai sur l'éthique de la richesse d'Orient en Occident (IFM/Regard, 2012), for which an English version will be published in 2025. His latest book, Le Moment Viennois; Chroniques de la modernité à l'époque de la Sécession Viennoise (Eyrolles, 2021), sheds light on how the great actors of the Viennese Secession heralded our modernity.
