Biography

Born in 1994 with a malformation in her left forearm (agenesis), Marie Bochet first put on skis in kindergarten and following in her brother's footsteps at the Saisies sports club. At 11, she competed in her first French Para-sport Championship. By 15, Marie was the first athlete with a disability to join the high-level ski section of the FFS (French Ski Federation). For her first Paralympic Games at the age of 16, in Vancouver in 2010, Marie finished just off the podium in slalom and super combined (standing category). Marie returned to France with an ambition: to train, progress and go for gold at the next Games. The very next year, she won two World Champion titles at just 17 years old! After securing seven titles at the 2011 and 2013 World Championships, Marie participated in the Sochi Paralympic Games in 2014: she achieved the remarkable feat of winning 4 gold medals out of a possible five, and she repeated this 4 years later at the 2018 Paralympic Games, while also serving as flag bearer for the French Delegation. In 2022, she won the silver medal (Super-G) in her final Games in Beijing. In 2024, she ended her career by finishing second in the overall World Cup standings. As the most decorated French athlete at the Winter Paralympic Games, Marie holds 9 Paralympic medals, including 8 Paralympic champion titles, 22 World Champion titles since 2011 (including 3 Grand Slams), 107 World Cup victories, 9 large crystal globes, and 22 small crystal globes. In parallel with her sporting career, Marie is committed to and wishes to ‘share and transmit what sport has brought her.’ Ranked in 2019 among the 40 most influential French women (Forbes 2019), she is an international ambassador for L'Oréal Paris, patron of the association "Pour que Lana gravisse sa montagne" (an association dedicated to raising funds for disabled children), while also being an ambassador for Mountain Riders and Outdoor Sport Valley. A member of the Athletes' Council of the International Paralympic Committee (2018-2022), of the PARIS 2024 Athletes' Commission (2018-2024), current vice-president of the Athletes' Commission (2023-2029) of the French Paralympic and Sports Committee, and a member of the Athletes' Council (National Sports Agency); Marie will also be the Head of Mission for the French Paralympic delegation at the Milan Cortina 2026 Games. In addition, she regularly works as a media consultant (Radio France & France info), and also as a consultant in the organization of sporting events, such as for the organizing committee of the Tignes 2027 Para Alpine Ski World Championships. As the manager of the first co-working space in Beaufort, she also continues her involvement with brands through various partnerships. She is also involved in promoting accessibility and mountain protection, the place of women in sport, and the promotion of disability. Regarding her studies, Marie holds a Baccalauréat ES with honors (2013) and is currently pursuing her studies at Sciences Po Paris. Finally, she is a lecturer on various topics for different companies. At the end of 2024, she released a documentary "Fais chanter la neige" (Make the Snow Sing) and a book "Mon petit doigt m’a dit" (My Little Finger Told Me), recounting her journey and exceptional career. In the spring of 2025, she presented her new conference "Mon petit doigt m’a dit."
