THE STEMKEY INITIATIVE
Women are under-represented in STEM-related studies and jobs. Indeed, across 35 European countries, fewer than 1 in 5 computer science graduates are women, and in France, there are 27% of women in engineering schools. In Europe, 42% of girls from 11 to 18 years old said they would consider a STEM-related career in the future.
In order to fix the leaky pipeline of women in STEM, which prevents women from accessing and keeping STEM jobs, it is necessary to reach out to young women, to engage them in STEM-related studies and therefore in the jobs of the future.
The Women4STEM Daring Circle has launched the STEMKEY initiative, aiming to demystify STEM, and rendering these fields particularly more attractive opportunities to teenagers. The initiative will drive a communications campaign to encourage curious minds and raise awareness about STEM-skill related career opportunities.
As such, we are building a community of STEM Sisters, women committed to STEM advocacy, who create a human connection and inspire potential STEM girls to find their own path to invent tomorrow’s jobs.
If you are a woman in STEM interested in joining the STEM Sisters community, sign up HERE.
Additionally, in partnership with Inspiring Girls International, we are keen to invite our STEM Sisters to record short videos sharing their career stories and advice, to help support the next generation of STEM women.
Your story matters, regardless of your age or experience, and we look forward to you joining us for this adventure!
